Based on a Victorian-era antique, the Victorian Shoe Etui is the result of a yearlong labor of love. The original, designed to hold a lady’s thimble and scissors, has been painstakingly recreated by counted cross-stitch designer Susan Myers. Known for her unique 3-dimentional designs, she has pulled out all the stops to make this design a reality. Her handmade shoe upper and heel/sole kit, along with careful pattern design work together to put finishing at your fingertips.
Join Susan as she leads you step-by-beautiful-step through some of the endless options available to choose from for creating your very own incredible heirloom. She’ll show you some simple, yet gorgeous silk ribbon embroidery stitches, fun shabby-chic flowers, pretty bows and even how to make the tassels and cord. Fans of counted cross-stitch may wish to use the pattern Susan designed exclusively for this workshop using 40ct linen.
Don’t like to sew, not a problem. It is possible to complete your shoe using nothing but fabric glue and a few embellishments.
So whether you choose to follow the techniques from one of Susan’s class examples or prefer designing your own, you will be given thorough instruction for completing the construction of your shoe etui. Both in the video portion of the workshop as well as full written instructions provided to refer to after classroom time has ended.
